Tech Setup

having such a website without any hardware listing feels wrong. So here’s the PCBs and copper and love to carry around.

Laptop

Running a GPD Pocket 4, it’s got plenty enough kick given the form factor and follows me everyday. I barely use the tablet mode and the screen resolution is too damn high. Even with a 200% zoom, people complain that the text is too small, I blame their discomfort with a small screen. The 4G expansion make it buttery smooth to work on the tram, I don’t recommend meetings though.

Phone

Landed on a Fairphone 5 with Murena /e/OS. Ain’t gonna bother with the specs argument: it’s average, and it’s ok, it’s just a phone. Chats, email and web browsing don’t require a power horse. This poney ensures privacy out of the box, and it has a removable battery so this is more than worth the price.

Gaming

My Steam Deck has been a faithful companion for a few years now. Got an old LCD one, “1st gen” as the purists would say. I’d argue old, reliable and competent, that my definiion of viable. And hopping on and off games or nerding for hours is quite a comfort.

Screen

/r/cyberDeck describes those devices as:

Basically a laptop computer, but using HMD or Neural interface as main output device. Display is optional. OS should use elements of virtual reality for interaction with the computer.

I still lack the neural interface, but the Rayneo Air 4 Pro are a good replacement. Compatible with all my devices, they’re a pretty great fit for all usages, video games (No Man’s Sky doesn’t feel the same) for sure but working is comfortable too, if you can get past the constant interruptions of your colleagues wonering about your new toy.

eReader

I switched to the Note Air 4C as I wanted to try the colored eInk and it does make notetaking beautiful and make a great reading device for comics too.

Got a uGreen powerbank and I sometimes fidget around with an Anbernic RG Rotate.
